Linda A. Giesen has been the Lee County State's Attorney since December 2000. The State's Attorney is responsible for filing charges and prosecuting crimes that occur within the county. The State's Attorney serves as legal counsel for Lee County, the County Board and all County Officials.

The State's Attorney's office under Linda A. Giesen has a strong team approach to prosecution. The attorneys are well trained and work closely to see that justice is served. The office has been the recipient of numerous state and federal grants which have allowed them to open the Shining Star Children's Advocacy Center where children under the age of 13, who are suspected victims of child abuse, can be interviewed in a child friendly atmosphere.

The office is proud to be actively involved in making Lee County one of the most successful and recognized counties in Illinois in the area of Restorative Justice for juvenile offenders. They also take pride in their continuing effort to explore and implement different forms of treatment programs for offenders as alternatives to incarceration. By educating offenders, they hope to make them more productive members of the community.
