The Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1912 as a business organization to help businesses succeed. Through its 92-year history the chamber has offered programs and services to its membership to help them be successful in their operations. The Sauk Valley Area Chamber is one of a small group of chambers in the United States that is accredited by the U.S.

Chamber Of Commerce. In 2002 the Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce received its 30 th Year Accreditation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce also supports Education in the Sauk Valley Area. The chamber annually awards a $1000 Charles A. Farnham Scholarship to an area high school senior who will be continuing their education in the field of Industry or Business. In addition, a $500 Scholarship is available to a second year student at Sauk Valley Community College. The Agri-Business Scholarships are $500 awards presented to high school seniors in Whiteside County who will be continuing their education in Agriculture or an Agriculture Related Field. The Sauk Valley Area Chamber is also the sponsor of the Junior Achievement Program that teaches personal finance to 7 th grade students in the area.

The action our representatives take in Springfield directly affects how business is conducted in our area. The Governmental Affairs Committee monitors what is going on in the state legislature and recommends to the chamber board of directors items for endorsement. The Governmental Affairs Committee also sponsors a Legislative Lunch in July with our area' s elected state officials and hosts "Meet The Candidates" Night' s during election seasons.
