Heartland Home Nursing
Heartland Home Nursing is a medicare certified visiting nursing agency founded in 1991, providing services in Whiteside, Lee, Carroll, Ogle and portions of Stephenson, Jo Daviess, Bureau and Henry counties. Kim Gaffey founded this agency in 1991 as a direct result of her deep commitment to the community. She believes that home care should be provided with the expectations that care should be focused on patient needs instead of financial gains or limitations. Heartland participated in a federal program studying medicare home health care for seven years. Mrs. Gaffey sat on Senate committees in Washington D.C. to defend the home health care arena and provided needed information for government regulatory reform.
Home health care visits are made under the direction of the patient’s personal physician, providing skilled nursing care, bathing services, physical therapy, speech therapy and occupational therapy. Visits are usually one hour or less and are scheduled according to patient needs. Post hospital care and extended care for diabetics are very common. Services are paid by medicare, insurance and public aide, as well as private pay.
Heartland Home Care staff is dedicated, trained professionals with only one thing in mind, their patients needs and well being. Their nurses are patient advocates and assist families with all care issues. The professional staff consists of RN’s, LPN’s, CNA’s, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists. Their staff will not shy away from a tough situation and often give well beyond their job duties. They believe their patients should receive care they would expect for their own families. The agency was recently computerized enabling the professional staff to have all medical information readily available 24 hours a day. They have added a new Physical Therapist, Dr. Kristi Bennett. She brings to the agency the ability to provide physical therapy with exceptional professional expertise. Acacia Broegan, Occupational Therapist, allows patients to return to independent function within their homes at an exceptional rate. As therapists are very difficult to find, Heartland Home Nursing is very proud to offer these services. Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm, on call 24 hours and visits made in the evening and weekend as needed.
